Real savings depend on your home, your tariff and how you use each product. Where evidence can’t support a figure, we tell you.
Our Independent Research Promise
Money-saving claims are easy to exaggerate. We’d rather tell you what the evidence actually supports. Right now, 2 of our 9 products have an independent yearly savings estimate. For the rest, we explain what is known and why we don’t give a figure.
We compare every savings claim with published research and advice from reputable independent organisations, such as the Energy Saving Trust and Which?, where relevant to the product.
Each product page explains how the saving was worked out, what it depends on and links straight to the original guidance, with the date it was published.
If reliable evidence can’t establish a saving, we say so rather than guess. We don’t add savings together across products, because they can overlap.
Energy Saving Trust figures are for Great Britain and use the Trust’s published price assumptions: electricity at 24.7p/kWh and gas at 6.5p/kWh, averaged across recent Ofgem price caps. Your saving will differ with your tariff, home and how you use each product.
The Energy Saving Trust, Which? and WRAP are independent organisations. They have not tested, approved or endorsed The Cost Savings Shop or any product we sell. We simply cite their published guidance.
