Energy
Two compact smart plugs that let you set schedules or switch devices off from your phone. Their built-in energy monitoring shows how much power each device draws, so you can spot the appliances worth switching off or using less. Standby power from modern devices is often small, so the main value is in knowing where your electricity goes.

Which? measured the standby use of a range of home tech and found that switching all of it off at the wall saved about £20.40 a year in total, while a smart plug’s own standby use costs about 97p a year. It concluded that smart plugs are not the best way to save energy on their own, but that models with energy monitoring can help you adjust how you use appliances. The Energy Saving Trust estimates that remembering to turn appliances off standby across a whole home saves around £45 a year in GB — but that comes from your habits across every device, not from two plugs. We can’t give a reliable yearly figure for this pack.
