Rechargeable AA Starter Kit

£19.99~£1 per recharge

Low self-discharge AA batteries that hold their charge for months between uses. They make most sense in devices you use often and that get through batteries quickly, like game controllers, remote-controlled toys, torches and fairy lights. For smoke alarms and low-drain devices like clocks, Which? recommends sticking with disposables.

  • 4 × 2000mAh AA batteries
  • Rated up to 500 recharges (manufacturer rating)
  • USB-powered smart charger
  • Low self-discharge

Your savings, honestly explained

~£1 per recharge

Which? estimates that each recharge saves about £1 you would otherwise spend on a disposable battery, and that in power-hungry devices rechargeables pay for themselves — including the charger and electricity — after about 10 charge cycles. Disposable battery prices have changed since that 2022 article. Your yearly saving depends entirely on how many batteries you get through, so we don’t give a yearly figure.

What your saving depends on

  • How often you replace batteries in high-drain devices
  • The price you would otherwise pay for disposables
  • Not suitable for smoke alarms or low-drain devices
